  • "Assalaamu alaikum, my beloved Brother M"

I was thinking about you. I was worrying about you and something very important came to my heart.

Today we are living a severely stormy life. Our Family, our style of life, culture, and the sickness of our hearts all contribute to this stormy life. When we are embroiled in this condition, how can we have time and ability to reflect over our hearts?

Today, we are very close to a lifetime chance of redeeming and rehabilitating ourselves. Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alaihi wa salam) said: "In the body is a flesh. If it's good, the whole body is good. If it's bad or sick, the whole body is sick. It is the Heart."

My Beloved Brother, this letter to you is due to my love for you and my responsibility to try and help you to stop and reflect, and to question the status of your heart and the status of your intentions.

Once you do that, you will gain the power, the strength; the tranquility and the belonging and Allah will help you and support you in your stormy condition.

If you win this battle against yourself and you become victorious inside, Allah will take care of the external battle and whatever is happening surrounding you.

Like I always said: "Don't blame the condition around you and don't blame the storm… Allah is the owner of Condition. Once we become a slave to Allah, he will take care of all our affairs and He will give us victory within our hearts and the outside world that surrounds us."

Remember, during Ramadan, you’re fighting only yourself, your Nafs (self) and your Shaitan (Satan), the small one (This means, this is has to be your own personal Shaitan). All the other times and all year long, you're fighting yourself in addition to an army of Shayateen (a very large number of Satan.) The battle of your Nafs and Shaitaan is small during Ramadan compared to the battle of fighting millions

of Shayateen the rest of the year. There is a huge difference between going to fight a battle with a few compared to fighting a battle with millions and billions.

Your chance of winning against yourself and your Nafs in Ramadan is very high and much easier than it is in any other time of the year. This means Ramadan is a golden opportunity to win, capture, clean up and know who you are. It's not the storm or the Shaitaan; It's our Nafs. That is why I am sharing with you all these verses of the Quran which emphasizes the importance of the purification of your heart, your Niya (intention) and your goal. If you win it, Allah will allow you to win everything. If you cannot win the internal battle of the status of your heart, you cannot win anything.

My intention is for you to win, to gain victory, to succeed and to be elevated in this life and the Hereafter. This, you will never be able to do unless you win the battle within. I hope you can comprehend my message. I am adding all these verses which actually are of a small amount compared to the rest of the verses in the Quran emphasizing the importance of the status of the heart.

If we are living or associating with sick people, sooner or later we will catch their diseases, especially if we already have some of what they have. Remember! The Prophet (saw) used to make Dua to Allah (swt) in the following way:

"Oh Allah (swt), the One who changes the condition of the heart, Hold tight my heart." Meaning, hold tight, my Eman, my Hidaya (guidance), my Niyah (intention) and do not snatch my Eman away from me.

Allah (swt) gives and Allah takes. Allah teaches us in the Qur'an:

    Quran Chapter 3, Surah Imran

"(They say), "Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower." [Verse: 8]

This is what I saw in my life according to the teachings of Islam and the words of Allah (swt).

Why does Allah give some people Tawfiq (ability), but they cannot receive it? Why are some people steadfast (istiqamah) with Allah and Why do some keep going up and down without any ending? For the sake of all these questions, let me share with you some of the verses of the Qur'an related to the importance of holding tight to your heart with your Iman and niyah and the importance of not deviating from them. Be careful!

Please understand that my words are not intended to tell you, "You are not among the believers!" or "You are a Hypocrite!" or "You are a disbeliever!" or "You are a liar!" No!!

I love you for Allah (swt)! You are my brother in Islam. You are my giant tree. I respect you and I admire you. I care for you and our relationship makes me responsible to share with you this knowledge to help you, to support you and to save you and guard you and to make sure you can succeed in your journey with the pleasure and light of Allah (swt).

The following is something I learned; If the soil is corrupted, the soil is sick, or the roots of the tree is sick, then the whole tree becomes sick. Similarly, if the heart is sick, then the entire body is sick and therefore the mind becomes sick. You will lose your stability and your journey of Eman. You could lose a lot. Most of all, you will lose your soul, your Eman, your guidance from Allah and your relationship with Allah (swt). But if the water for the tree is pure, the tree will have beautiful sweet crops. It will be very healthy; benefiting itself and others.

Please take what I tell you from someone who loves you and wants the best for you.

"A Momin’s heart is with Allah (swt), he holds tight to Allah, Begs from Allah and remembers Allah. Don’t deviate!"

On the other hand, the disbelievers and the munafakeen (the hypocrite) are the ones who go up and down.

At this time, before Ramadan, we should analyze, check, and question the status of our heart and what it contains. We are surrounded by an influential environment and our genetic weaknesses.

I consider this a crucial reminder for all the believers on Earth, especially at this time of life towards the end of time. The amount of Fitna (tribulations) and darkness makes it very difficult for our hearts to see (coursing veil of our hearts).

My intention is to be aware, awake, and examine you.

If the heart is good, everything is OK, everything is all right. If the heart has problems, our whole life will have problems.

Again... please read carefully what I am going to share with you. You might find some of what I say scary or hurtful at times. But it can also be a beautiful reminder and wake up call to build strength and uplift your journey of renewing your faith, your Intention and your priorities in life.

    Verses From The Qur'an

I seek Allah's protection from Satan, the accursed.
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

    Quran Chapter 6, Surah An'am

When Our torment reached them, why then did they not humble themselves (believe with humility)?

But their hearts became hardened, and Shaitan (Satan) made farseeing to them which they used to do. So when they forgot ( the warning ) with which they had been reminded, We opened for them the gates of every ( pleasant ) things, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them ( in punishment ) and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows. [Verses: 43-44]

Say (to the disbelievers): Tell me, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed up your hearts, who is there - an ilah (a god) other than Allah who could restore them to you? [Verse: 46]

Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients. [Verse: 25]

Yet they make the Jinns equals with Allah, though Allah did create the Jinns; and they falsely, having no knowledge, attribute to Him sons and daughters. Praise and glory be to Him! (for He is) above what they attribute to Him! [Verse: 100]

We (too) shall turn to (confusion) their hearts and their eyes, even as they refused to believe in this in the first instance: We shall leave them in their trespasses, to wander in distraction. [Verse:110]

    Quran Chapter 3, Surah Imran

If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah. But Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude. [Verse:144]

    Quran Chapter 2, Surah Baqarah

As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe. Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur). [verses: 6 and 7]

Thenceforth were your hearts hardened: They became like a rock and even worse in hardness. For among rocks there are some from which rivers gush forth; others there are which when split asunder send forth water; and others which sink for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unmindful of what ye do. [verse: 74]

Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing. [Verse: 225]

    Quran Chapter 7, Surah A'raf

To those who inherit the earth in succession to its (previous) possessors, is it not a guiding, (lesson) that, if We so willed, We could punish them (too) for their sins, and seal up their hearts so that they could not hear? [Verse: 100]

    Quran Chapter 8, Surah Anfal

    For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord;
    [Verse: 2]

And (moreover) He hath put affection between their hearts: not if thou hadst spent all that is in the earth, couldst thou have produced that affection, but Allah hath done it: for He is Exalted in might, Wise. [Verse: 63]

    Quran Chapter 3, Surah Imran

Saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal. [Verse:167]

    Quran Chapter 5, Surah Maidah

O Messenger. let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief: (whether it be) among those who say "We believe" with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews,- men who will listen to any lie,- will listen even to others who have never so much as come to thee. [Verse: 41]

. Those in whose hearts is a disease - thou seest how eagerly they run about amongst them, saying: "We do fear lest a change of fortune bring us disaster." Ah! perhaps Allah will give (thee) victory, or a decision according to His will. Then will they repent of the thoughts which they secretly harbored in their hearts. [Verse: 52]

    Quran Chapter 9, Surah Taubah

Only those ask thee for exemption who believe not in Allah and the Last Day, and whose hearts are in doubt, so that they are tossed in their doubts to and fro. [Verse: 45]

Amongst them are men who made a covenant with Allah, that if He bestowed on them of His bounty, they would give (largely) in charity, and be truly amongst those who are righteous. But when He did
bestow of His bounty, they became covetous, and turned back (from their covenant), averse (from its fulfillment). So He hath put as a consequence hypocrisy into their hearts, (to last) till the Day, whereon they shall meet Him: because they broke their covenant with Allah, and because they lied (again and again). Know they not that Allah doth know their secret (thoughts) and their secret counsels, and that Allah knoweth well all things unseen? [Verses: 75-78]

But those in whose hearts is a disease,- it will add doubt to their doubt, and they will die in a state of Unbelief. See they not that they are tried every year once or twice? Yet they turn not in repentance, and they take no heed. Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), Doth anyone see you? Then they turn aside: Allah hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not. [Verses: 125-127]

    Quran Chapter 4, Surah Nisa

Those men,-(Allah) knows what is in their hearts; so keep clear of them, but admonish them, and speak to them a word to reach their very souls. [Verse-63]

    Quran Chapter 7, Surah A'raf

Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell: They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle,- nay more misguided: for they are heedless (of warning). [Verse: 179]

    Quran Chapter 10, Surah Yunus

Then after him We sent (many) apostles to their peoples: they brought them Clear Signs, but they would not believe what they had already rejected beforehand. Thus do We seal the hearts of the transgressors. [Verse: 74]

Moses prayed: "Our Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on Pharaoh and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of the present, and so, Our Lord, they mislead (men) from Thy Path. Deface our Lord, the features of their wealth, and send hardness to their hearts, so they will not believe until they see the grievous penalty." [Verse: 88]

    Quran Chapter 83, Surah Mutaffifin

By no means! but on their he"Our Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on Pharaoh and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of the present, and so, Our Lord, they mislead (men) from Thy Path. Deface our Lord, the features of their wealth, and send hardness to their hearts, so they will not believe until they see the grievous penalty."arts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! [Verse: 14]

    Quran Chapter 13, Surah Rad

"Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction." "For those who believe and work righteousness, is (every) blessedness, and a beautiful place of (final) return." [Verses: 28 and 29]

    Quran Chapter 22, Surah Hajj

To those whose hearts when Allah is mentioned, are filled with fear, who show patient perseverance over their afflictions, keep up regular prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have bestowed upon them. [Verse: 35]

That He may make the suggestions thrown in by Satan, but a trial for those in whose hearts is a disease and who are hardened of heart: verily the wrong-doers are in a schism far (from the Truth): And that those on whom knowledge has been bestowed may learn that the (Qur'an) is the Truth from thy Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may be made humbly (open) to it: for verily Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Way. Those who reject Faith will not cease to be in doubt concerning (Revelation) until the Hour (of Judgment) comes suddenly upon them, or there comes to them the Penalty of a Day of Disaster. [Verses: 53-55]

Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts (and minds) may thus learn wisdom and their ears may thus learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts. [Verse: 46]

    Quran Chapter 23, Surah Mu'minun

And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. But their hearts are in confused ignorance of this; and there are, besides that, deeds of theirs, which they will (continue) to do. [Verses: 60-63]

    Quran Chapter 39, Surah Zumar

Is one whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, so that he has received Enlightenment from Allah, (no better than one hard-hearted)? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against celebrating the praises of Allah. they are manifestly wandering (in error)! Allah has revealed (from time to time) the most beautiful Message in the form of a Book, consistent with itself, (yet) repeating (its teaching in various aspects): the skins of those who fear their Lord tremble thereat; then their skins and their hearts do soften to the celebration of Allah’s praises. Such is the guidance of Allah. He guides therewith whom He pleases, but such as Allah leaves to stray, can have none to guide.
    [Verses: 22 and 23]

"Or (lest) it should say: 'If only Allah had guided me, I should certainly have been among the righteous!" [Verse: 57]

    Quran Chapter 57, Surah Hadid

Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors. [Verse: 16]

    Quran Chapter 48, Surah Fath

The desert Arabs who lagged behind will say to thee: They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: "Who then has any power at all (to intervene) on your behalf with Allah, if His Will is to give you some loss or to give you some profit? But Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.
    [Verse: 11]

. Allah's Good Pleasure was on the Believers when they swore Fealty to thee under the Tree: He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down Tranquility to them; and He rewarded them with a speedy Victory; [Verse: 18]

    Quran Chapter 47, Surah Muhammad

And among them are men who listen to thee, but in the end, when they go out from thee, they say to those who have received Knowledge, "What is it he said just then?" Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed, and who follow their own lusts.
    [Verse: 16]

Or do those in whose hearts is a disease, think that Allah will not bring to light all their rancor? [Verse: 29]

    Quran Chapter 58, Surah Mujadilah

Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity. [Verse: 22]

    Quran Chapter 24, Surah Noor

Is it that there is a disease in their hearts? or do they doubt, or are they in fear, that Allah and His Messenger will deal unjustly with them? Nay, it is they themselves who do wrong. [Verse: 50]

    Quran Chapter 49, Surah Hujurat

And know that among you is Allah’s Messenger. were he, in many matters, to follow your (wishes), ye would certainly fall into misfortune: But Allah has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you Unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness; [Verse: 7]

The desert Arabs say, "We believe." Say, "Ye have no faith; but ye (only)say, 'We have submitted our wills to Allah,' For not yet has Faith entered your hearts. But if ye obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not belittle aught of your deeds: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [Verse: 14]

    Quran Chapter 50, Surah Qaf

"Who feared (Allah) Most Gracious Unseen, and brought a heart turned in devotion (to Him): "Enter ye therein in Peace and Security; this is a Day of Eternal Life! There will be for them therein all that
they wish,- and more besides in Our Presence. But how many generations before them did We destroy (for their sins),- stronger in power than they? Then did they wander through the land: was there any place of escape (for them)? Verily in this is a Message for any that has a heart and understanding or who gives ear and earnestly witnesses (the truth).

    [Verses: 33-37]
    Quran Chapter 33, Surah Ahzab

Allah has not made for any man two hearts in his (one) body: nor has He made your wives whom ye divorce by Zihar your mothers: nor has He made your adopted sons your sons. Such is (only) your (manner of) speech by your mouths. But Allah tells (you) the Truth, and He shows the (right) Way. [Verse: 4]

    Quran Chapter 18, Surah Kahf

And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.
    [Verse:28]

    Quran Chapter 8, Surah Anfal

O ye who believe! give your response to Allah and His Messenger, when He calleth you to that which will give you life; and know that Allah cometh in between a man and his heart, and that it is He to Whom ye shall (all) be gathered. [Verse: 24]

    Quran Chapter 45, Surah Jathiyah

Then seest thou such a one as takes as his god his own vain desire? Allah has, knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart (and understanding), and put a cover on his sight. Who, then, will guide him after Allah (has withdrawn Guidance)? Will ye not then receive admonition? [Verse: 23]

    Quran Chapter 30, Surah Rum

Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not. [Verse: 59]

    Quran Chapter 47, Surah Muhammad

Do they not then earnestly seek to understand the Qur'an, or are their hearts locked up by them? [Verse: 24]

    Quran Chapter 24, Surah Noor

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.(Lit is such a Light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honor; for the celebration, in them, of His name: In them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again). By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular Charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed (in a world wholly new). That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace: for Allah doth provide for those whom He will, without measure. [Verse: 35-38]

"TODAY WE CAN, TOMORROW WE CANNOT "
Today we are getting close to the beginning of the holy and blessed month of Ramadan. It is the month of the Quran, of reflection on ourselves, of reflection of our hearts and our goals.

It is the month to investigate and ask ourselves, Where are we going? What is our propose in life?

Take this article with an open heart and examine your heart and see who you are.  Remember  that you still have time, you are still alive. The door of Mercy of Allah (swt) is still open, meaning you still have a chance, a beautiful chance! Allah is so generous and so merciful! He is Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahmeen.

May Allah swt open our hearts to His words and wisdom and guidance and grant us the ability to be able to listen and obey.

Remember what Allah (swt) said in Surah Yunus:

    Quran Chapter 10, Surah Yunus

Is it not (the case) that to Allah belongeth whatever is in the heavens and on earth? Is it not (the case) that Allah’s promise is assuredly true? Yet most of them understand not. It is He Who giveth life and who taketh it, and to Him shall ye all be brought back. O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts,- and for those who believe, a guidance and a Mercy.
    [Verses: 55-57]

Say: "In the bounty of Allah. And in His Mercy,- in that let them rejoice": that is better than the (wealth) they hoard. Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah." [Verses: 58 and 59]
